Official Jackson County Contacts

This privately run reference cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, arrange release, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the government office that holds the record or custody information directly.

County Custody and Records

The sheriff’s office and jail contact route is the official starting point for a current county-custody question or a written request for a sheriff-held booking record. Jackson County’s public pages did not identify a public roster or separate records-unit telephone number, so use the appropriate published line and then follow the written request route for a record or photograph.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office

115 W. Main, Room 104
Edna, TX 77957
Administration: 361-782-3371
Dispatch / non-emergency: 361-782-3541
Jackson County Jail: 361-782-5407
Fax: 361-782-7574
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

For a written booking-record or photograph request, begin with the county’s Open Records Requests page and its Public Information Request Form. Address the request to the department with custody, identify the person and a narrow date range, and ask for a fee estimate. The form says charges may apply; it does not publish a fixed sheriff photo fee or a guaranteed photo turnaround.

Choose the Right Record Holder

Different questions belong with different custodians. The county records and custody overview explains those boundaries in more detail, but the official starting points are below.

  • Current Jackson County custody: call the jail line. For status notifications, use the VINE/VINELink route linked by the sheriff.
  • County booking record or potentially releasable photo: send a precise written request to the sheriff’s department with custody.
  • County court or criminal-record copies: contact the Jackson County Clerk, 115 W. Main, Room 101, Edna, 361-782-3563. The clerk lists $1 per page and normal processing of one to two business days for its own copies.
  • District-court docket material: use the Jackson County District Clerk rather than the sheriff.
  • State custody: search the Texas Department of Criminal Justice offender locator. It is not a Jackson County booking roster.
  • Federal or immigration custody: use the Bureau of Prisons locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator, which cover different federal or civil custody systems.
